DaLena Slayton

DaLena Slayton was born in Akron, OH and currently resides in Dallas, TX. She served in the US Army and went on to graduate from the University of North Texas with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. Her love of writing stemmed from poetry and its ability to make the darkest things sound most beautiful. Obsessed with the Criminal Justice system and its affect on different cultures, her poetry began to take a more political tone. With growing interest, an idea for her first novel popped into mind, and so, Amerikkkan Justice(US) was born.

The world is black and white, but Rilei tends to live in a gray area until life forces him to open his eyes. From his sheltered childhood to his rude awakening to reality, Rilei is forced to learn how to be a survivor in the ghetto streets of Akron, OH. Being a survivor also means that Rilei will have to learn how to accept that the world isn’t different shades of gray, and that he is on the wrong side of the black and white.
